About Me

My name is Lucca Batturaro, and I am in my second year at Sacramento City College. I am 19 years old and have lived in Sacramento for most of my life with my two sisters Helena and Juliet, and my mother and father. I am a middle child, which leaves me feeling cast out most of the time; not sympathizing with other members of my family or just feeling left out in general. I find that it has led me to become more of an individual with my own interests and my own sense of self, which I have come to appreciate. Speaking of which, I love most kinds of music with a solid melody, almost all types of film, and a more recent hobby, customizing clothing and sneakers. I hope to one day make it into a profitable business that I can support myself with. I have been reselling sneakers as well which kind of goes hand in hand. I have found comfort in the raucous online community that surrounds sneaker reselling. It’s very encouraging, but simultaneously immature. There are lots of teenage kids doing it which can be problematic sometimes, but it is nevertheless a newfound hobby I have found solace in.

Seeing as college is the main theme of my life currently, I’m sure a lot of other students can sympathize with this, I have struggled in trying to find the right school for me to transfer to and how to go about doing it. After plenty of time spent searching and deliberating, I have thought about pretty much every and any outcome for the future. Currently, I am in a position where the most likely path for me is applying to colleges and moving off to another city to do two more years of college and get a degree, probably business or something generic that I’ll probably never use. However, I have been seriously considering the possibility of going into some vocation where I can be fully self-taught and still thrive.

You might be wondering, “Does something like that actually exist?” I’m here to say yes, it does, thousands of software developers are self-taught and get paid 6-figure salaries, lots of artists in the world have never seen the inside of an art class room. These are just some examples of what I could do as well as things that I am genuinely interested in.

For my whole life, school has just been some sort of vehicle to get me from point A to point B, but as I’ve grown older, I have come to realize that there it is only crucial for certain professions. Doctors, lawyers, physicians, these are all occupations that require a degree and some form of secondary college in order to be certified to work in a given field.

Anyways, clearly this is the main theme of my life right now, and is something I think about a lot. I hope that I can take everything I learn in college and apply it somewhere in my life, but who knows.

That’s me…in a nutshell.
